Hi Seth,

I am not really "endorsing" anybody. I simply agree with them when they say that "Website translation widgets are unreliable".

Regarding their "business model", I have no comment about that, even though as a Professional Translator my fees are much higher, which incidentally does not prevent me from having as many clients as I want... (And also please note I do not live in Europe or the Americas!)
BTW, have you actually seen UHT's translations and are you sure the quality is not good? Are you really sure their customers are not satisfied?

I have read with interest your posts, but I cannot believe that you endorse a service such as OneHourTranslation. Although I am personally a big fan of crowdsourcing, the service offered by this company is real danger for companies.

What they say is unbelievable:
1. €0,055 per word ! There is no professional translator, and I mean professional, in Europe or the Americas (at least!) that works for this price, so the selling price cannot be below the cost. In the EU, 23 languages. This means that OHT don't use native translators for these languages. At a time when governance and online reputation are the 2nd and 3rd main concerns of company directors, to endorse a service like this is dangerous.

2. OHT advise customers to divide documents on the basis that a translator translates 200 words an hour (where in fact a professional one will translate 300; that's 50% more). Anyway, so if a company has 5,000 words to translate, 25 translators on the job for a one hour translation?

Seriously, let's stop this nonsense. This is ridiculous.

Why you should maybe advise OHT to do is be clearer about what they can truly help with instead of endorsing false guarantees.

Sorry to be blunt, but you're contributing to spreading lies.
